Course Description:
The All-Hazards Operations Section Chief course addresses the responsibilities of an Operations Section Chief to ensure the maintenance of continuity and safety of on-site responders and the public. The course will hone preexisting skillsets of Operation Section Chiefs in communication, staff functions for the Local Incident Management Team (IMT), and successful management of an incident. By the end of this course, students will be able to demonstrate, through activities and a final exam, an understanding of the duties, responsibilities, and capabilities of an effective Operations Section Chief on an AHIMT.

Target Audience:
Federal, state, tribal, and local emergency responders (from a variety of agencies and functional disciplines, including fire service, law enforcement, emergency management, public works departments, as well as public health organizations, medical emergency teams, and hospitals) who may be designated as Operations Section Chiefs on their local or state Incident Management Team (IMT). NIMS ICS position specific training should be completed by personnel who are regularly assigned to function, support, or unit leader positions on United States Fire Administration (USFA) or other Type III or IV AHIMT or by those persons who desire to seek credentials/certification in those positions.

• IS-200: Incident Command System for Single Resources & Initial Action Incidents
• IS-700: NIMS, An Introduction to the National Incident Management System
• IS-800: National Response Framework (NRF)
• G300: Intermediate Incident Command System (ICS-300)
• G400: Advanced Incident Command System (ICS-400)

FEMA Independent Study (IS) courses can be completed online at: https://training.fema.gov/is.
ICS-300 (G300) and ICS-400 (G400) are in-person courses.
Waivers will not be granted.

*Enrollment Policy: Students must have the status of “Enrolled” to attend any class or event. Students who are “Waitlisted” or “Pending Approval” will not be allowed to attend the class. If a student needs to cancel enrollment, please do so as early as possible to allow someone on the waitlist to be enrolled.      
              
*Attendance Policy: Students must attend at least 90% of the class to be able to receive credit. Should a student need to miss any portion of the class, they must contact the Training Branch beforehand for further information.
