DEMA Internship Program - Spring 2027 DEMA/EM Internship

Full Description: The DEMA/EM Internship Program offers unpaid, in-person internships to students, providing participants with hands-on, real-world experience to help satisfy professional goals and prepare for career advancement.

DEMA/EM Interns may have the opportunity to partake in the following:

-Attend tours of outside agencies to increase their knowledge of interagency relations.
-Participate in projects and activities related to mitigation, geographic information system(s), grants administration, and operations, as well as involvement in training, planning, exercises, and various other preparedness efforts.
-Shadow personnel across different departments to gain a comprehensive understanding of each branch.
-Assist in tracking grant expenditures, processing reimbursement requests, or compiling financial documentation for audit readiness.
-Create visual data dashboards, charts, or infographics to help branches and leadership track project milestones and key performance indicators (KPIs).
-Analyze participant feedback and evaluation surveys from training exercises to identify areas for program improvement.

Resources Required: Those interested must complete and submit the DEMA/EM Internship Application by the deadline below.

-Spring Semester Application Deadline: November 30.
-Summer Semester Application Deadline: March 31.
-Fall Semester Application Deadline: June 30.

Applications will then be reviewed by a panel and interns will be placed with mentors based on mentor and project availability, student's background and interest.
