First responders at the operations level are individuals who respond to releases or potential releases of hazardous substances as part of the initial response to the site for the purpose of protecting nearby persons, property or the environment from the effects of the release. They are trained to respond in a defensive fashion without actually trying to stop the release. Their function is to contain the release from a safe distance, keep it from spreading and prevent exposures. This course is presented in compliance with 29CFR Chapter XVII 1910.120(q)(6)(ii) and the Arizona Administrative Code Title 8, Chapter 2, Article 6.

Prerequisites: Successful completion of MAU100: First Responder Awareness or equivalent hazardous materials awareness course.

Registration: This class is being conducted through Coconino Community College for Fire Science and EMS students. Attendance in this class requires additional registration and fees through the college. Once you've contact the college to register and been approved to attend, you will receive an enrollment confirmation via email.*

All who enroll will initially be listed as “Pending Host Approval” until their eligibility as a primary stakeholder in this training can be confirmed. Eligibility will be reviewed on a weekly basis. If you remain “Pending”, it either means your eligibility could not be confirmed, or the list of eligible participants is being prioritized. You will be contacted if we require additional information regarding your eligibility. Once confirmed to attend, participants will be sent an enrollment confirmation via email.
