This course will prepare participants to engage individuals and volunteer organizations through social media, especially in the context of disaster preparedness and response.  Social media engagement is often an enigma to most people, particularly in the public sector, because it is a different form of communication than most are accustomed.  Through this course, participants will learn how to develop content that engages their audiences and turns their words into action throughout the disaster cycle.  Participants will learn about social media engagement techniques, individual and organizational roles in crisis communication and Virtual Operations Support Teams (VOST).

Successful completion of PER-304 Social Media for Natural Disaster Response and Recovery.

*Enrollment Policy: Students must have the status of “Enrolled” to attend any class or event. Students who are “Waitlisted” or “Pending Approval” will not be allowed to attend the class. If a student needs to cancel enrollment, please do so as early as possible to allow someone on the waitlist to be enrolled.      
              
*Attendance Policy: Students must attend at least 90% of the class to be able to receive credit. Should a student need to miss any portion of the class, they must contact the Training Office beforehand for further information.

*This course qualifies for AZ POST continuing training credit. If you are a Law Enforcement Officer & would like to request a POST Certificate, contact the DEMA Training Office at training@azdema.gov or 602-464-6225 once you have successfully completed this course.
