This course addresses warning coordination for weather- or flooding-related events. It provides training to help facilitate the process whereby State, local, tribal, and territorial officials responsible for warning coordination and communication work closely with the National Weather Service (NWS) and the news media to provide effective warnings that can be received and understood by people at risk. The effective coordination of these warnings is paramount to saving lives and protecting property. The class includes lecture, discussion, case studies and exercises.

*This FEMA course is an elective for the Advanced Professional Series (APS) program.


Target Audience:
Emergency Management staff; Local, County, State and Tribal Government Units; Fire, Law Enforcement, EMS, and Hospital providers; School Staff and Administrators; Volunteer Agencies active in disaster or exercise.

*This FEMA course is an elective for the Advanced Professional Series (APS) program.

*Enrollment Policy: Students must have the status of “Enrolled” to attend any class or event. Students who are “Waitlisted” or “Pending Approval” will not be allowed to attend the class. If a student needs to cancel enrollment, please do so as early as possible to allow someone on the waitlist to be enrolled.

*Attendance Policy: Students must attend at least 90% of the class to be able to receive credit. Should a student need to miss any portion of the class, they must contact the Training Branch beforehand for further information.

*This course qualifies for AZ POST continuing training credit. If you are a Law Enforcement Officer & would like to request a POST Certificate, contact the DEMA Training Branch at training@azdema.gov or 602-464-6225 once you have successfully completed this course.
