Class Times: 8:00AM-5:00PM each day

Through this course, participants will learn how to use existing relationships and build new ones with community-based protection, response, and recovery organizations to help their schools better plan for, protect against, mitigate, respond to, and recover from emergencies. This course follows the guidance set forth in FEMA's Comprehensive Preparedness Guide (CPG) 101 for developing an emergency operations plan.

Target Audience: Applicants should be part of a K-12 school district/school emergency management team and may include: Superintendents/Assistant Superintendents/Risk Managers; School Board members; Principals/Assistant Principals; Public Information Officers; Security Officials/School Safety Coordinators/School Safety Team members; Information Technology Managers; Facility Managers/Building Engineers; Transportation Coordinators; Food Service Coordinators; and School Nurses/School Counselors/Psychologists. Applicants may also include emergency management community partners including Police/School Resource Officers, Fire personnel, Emergency Management officials, and Emergency Medical Services/Public Health officials.

Course Objectives
     • Leverage working relationships with community organizations.
     • Conduct assessments.
     • Develop or refine your school's EOP.
     • Develop response and recovery protocols.
     • Conduct effective training and exercises.
     • Develop an action plan for sustaining the school's EOP.

**NOTE** The following prerequisites are mandatory and must be completed before requesting enrollment. Waivers will not be granted under any circumstance. Certificates of completion or FEMA transcript must be uploaded during registration.

Mandatory Prerequisites:  
     • IS-100: An Introduction to the Incident Command System, ICS 100
     • IS-700: An Introduction to the National Incident Management System
     • IS-362: Multi-Hazard Emergency Planning for Schools

*Enrollment Policy: Students must have the status of “Enrolled” to attend any class or event. Students who are “Waitlisted” or “Pending Approval” will not be allowed to attend the class. If a student needs to cancel enrollment, please do so as early as possible to allow someone on the waitlist to be enrolled.

*Attendance Policy: Students must attend at least 90% of the class to be able to receive credit. Should a student need to miss any portion of the class, they must contact the DEMA Training Branch beforehand for further information.
